What is the NAICS Keyword Search Tool?
The NAICS Keyword Search Tool allows users to look up NAICS Codes by a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Digit NAICS code, or to use specific keywords to see which NAICS Codes relate to that keyword. Some users who use this tool to identify their own businesses NAICS Code. Others are looking up codes that reflect the types of businesses they want to do business with, so they can purchase a Marketing List from our organization.
The people who need this solution the most are seeking an easier way to look up NAICS Codes quickly for the client projects. For example, a lending company might need the NAICS Code for BSA compliance as they onboard a company interested in getting a loan. An Insurance Broker might need the NAICS Code for underwriting a Business insurance policy for their new prospect customer. A Data Professional might need an easier way to review and improve their Business Database with NAICS Codes for segmenting their customers.

Why Switch to the NAICS Keyword and Drilldown APIs?
We offer the NAICS Keyword Search and Drilldown for free right on the website, but not everyone is comfortable leaving their work environment to do this research. In fact, if you are trying to onboard a new customer, the last thing you want is to redirect them away from your forms to answer such a challenging question; doing so could lead to them not coming back to complete your onboarding process.
That’s why we created the NAICS Keyword Search and Drilldown as APIs. Now you can integrate these tools directly into your onboarding workflows, into a CRM, or any other environment where you want to flexibly access the NAICS codes without having to leave your platform.
How to get started with the NAICS Keyword Search API?
The platform is still in a beta state, but it should be relatively easy to start playing with the tool. Simply go to Platform.NAICS.com, create an account, and then select a plan. You will be set up with our Free Plan by default; great for testing the API or for users with minor activity needs. The larger plans simply allow for heavier API usage.

What should I expect when I sign in to my NAICS API Account?
You will be asked to set up an Organization and you will be allowed to invite members from your organization to use your API access. Once you finish registration, you will be redirected to the NAICS API Playground, where you can explore and use the NAICS Keyword Search, Drilldown, and NAICS Details APIs without any code! Make a search, click on a code from the Drilldown results, and see details about the Code in the “Details” API.
Once you are ready to start coding, you can review the API documentation at API.NAICS.com. Use this information to help you integrate the solution into whichever environments you want.
What happens when the NAICS Coding System changes?
We will update the API to reflect the changes as they become available. Don’t worry though, when we update to the 2027 version of the NAICS Codes, you will still be able to look at 2022 version of the NAICS Codes if you aren’t ready to switch!

We can’t go into all the details, but as we get feedback and positive attention on this initial offering, we intend to add an SIC Code Keyword search, crosswalk between the two systems, and potentially add over a dozen other APIs that relate to Business record enrichment and market research.
